Group trip · USA

In general the trip was very nice, and it felt worth far more than what we paid. We visited four cities and flew from Washington, D.C. to Orlando. Every day we went sightseeing and ate good food at nice restaurants. The trip was well organised.

FAQ

Questions families ask us first.

Still unsure? Send us a message and we will reply within 24 hours.

Can you guarantee my visa will be approved?

No. Only the embassy or immigration authority decides. Be careful of any agent who promises approval. We make sure your application is complete, accurate and well prepared.

How much do your services cost?

Fees depend on the service and destination. After your free consultation, you receive a written quote before any work begins. For example, our visa support administrative fee starts from USD 150 and may be higher depending on your case, the country and the visa type (short-stay or national/long-stay). This fee excludes the visa application fee and any value-added services at the visa centre (such as premium lounge, courier or SMS updates), which are paid separately.

Is the first consultation free?

Yes, the first consultation is free, in person or by WhatsApp.

How early should I start?
6–12 monthsUniversity admissionbefore the intake
3–6 monthsSchool tripsbefore travel
6–8 weeksVisasbefore travel
Can you help with scholarships?

Yes. We help you find scholarships that match your profile and prepare strong applications. Funding decisions are made by the scholarship provider.

Do you work with schools outside Dar es Salaam?

Yes. We work with schools and families across Tanzania, in person or online.

What does a school trip package include?

Usually flights, accommodation, meals, transport, activities, visas and insurance. Each school receives a tailored proposal.

How do I pay?

Bank transfer, M-Pesa, Tigo Pesa or cash at the office.

Meritum Education

Inspiring Minds. Sharing What Works.

Meritum Education is a research-based learning community and media initiative of Meritum Consulting Tanzania. It explores what actually works, and what is really happening, in schools and classrooms across Tanzania.

Why Meritum Education exists

Education systems in emerging economies face many challenges: limited resources, large classes, gaps in support for learners with special needs, and services that institutions alone cannot always fully provide.

Our thinking is shaped by the research of Harvard Business School professor Tarun Khanna on institutional voids in emerging markets: the gaps left where formal institutions are missing or weak. His work shows how entrepreneurs and social enterprises step in to fill those gaps and create real social value.

Every day, students, teachers, parents and school leaders find creative ways to solve problems that the system has not yet solved. Their solutions often go unseen. Media can spot them, tell their stories and help others learn from them.

What we share

  • Stories of resilienceLearners and educators who keep going against the odds
  • Student projects worth showcasingInnovation, research and community projects led by young people
  • Beyond the classroomClubs, mentorship and outreach started by teachers
  • Effective lesson deliveryPractical teaching methods that improve learning
  • Special and inclusive educationHow schools support learners with special needs
  • Parents as partnersLike parents organising school lunch programmes so every child can learn on a full stomach
  • Leadership in schoolsStrategies and decisions by school leaders that made a difference
  • AchievementsThe milestones and successes of students, teachers and schools

Our approach

Research-based
We look closely at what works and why, not just what is popular.
Real voices
Stories told by the people who lived them.
Learning to share
Every story should give others an idea they can use in their own school or home.

Have a story worth sharing?

If you are a student, teacher, parent or school leader with an initiative others can learn from, we would love to hear from you.

Our team at an international education workshop 8+ years in education

About us

Educators and counsellors who know what works.

We are educators and university counsellors with more than 8 years of experience in education. In that time, we have worked closely with students, parents and international universities and colleges.

Students rarely fail because they lack ability. They struggle because they get the wrong advice, apply too late, choose a course that doesn't fit them, or submit an incomplete application. Meritum Consulting Tanzania was founded to close that gap.

Vision

To be Tanzania's most trusted partner for education, opportunity and global mobility.

Mission

To give students, families and schools honest, practical and professional support in study abroad, travel and visas.

What we have learned

  1. Every student is different. The right university for one student may be the wrong one for another. We start with the student, not with a list of schools.
  2. Parents need to be part of the process. Good decisions are made when families understand the options, the costs and the timeline.
  3. Early planning changes outcomes. The best opportunities and scholarships go to students who prepare ahead.
  4. Details decide applications. A missing document or a weak personal statement can cost a place or a visa. We check everything.
  5. Honesty builds trust. We give realistic advice, even when it isn't what someone hoped to hear.

Meet the team

Our team brings together educators, university counsellors and travel coordinators. Together, we have:

  • Counselled students through admission to universities in North America, Europe and Asia
  • Visited partner campuses and met admissions teams in person, including in the USA, South Korea and Romania
  • Led student and adult groups on educational tours across Europe, including Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Romania
  • Prepared visa applications for students, teachers and families
